Art is a journey, and Nancy Nam Kei Yeung’s is one of color and legacy. She began painting at the age of five under the celebrated artistic tutelage of her mother and father, Jiang Yan and Zuo Hui. Trained in the traditional Chinese painting style — Gongbi —Nancy’s work is highly ornate, depicting idealized, fluid interpretations of nature. She evokes a sense of calmness and harmony through the application of intricate lines and meticulous details of form.
As an artist, she believes that a floral painting is not only about showing the flower’s characteristics, but demonstrating its innate life force to survive and thrive in nature. Nancy finds color to be the key to invigorate this energy, a method she applies to any subject matter. She is constantly reinventing her creativity by blending various painting techniques, media and styles through color experimentation.
For Nancy, painting is not only her passion, but a lifetime commitment.
